Description
The output expansion unit BR2/BR3 is designed for connecting signaling circuits, switching signals, turning power circuits on and off, managing alert systems, activating emergency alarm systems, and so on.
It is recommended for joint operation with PCs, specialized controllers, and other leading devices that support the standard ModBus RTU exchange protocol in an RS-485 network.
Main functions and operating modes of the output expansion unit:
- Expansion units are independent devices with an RS-485 communication interface and ModBus RTU protocol, allowing their use together with instruments from our enterprise, equipment from other manufacturers, as well as directly controlled by a personal computer;
- The number of inputs/outputs can be increased by using multiple expansion units connected to a single control device. This approach ensures expanded functional capabilities of measuring/regulating devices, high reliability, and interchangeability;
- The device is a slave unit, normal operation is possible only when connected to a master device (PC or microprocessor control system). Communication protocol — Modbus RTU in RS-485 network;
- The user can programmatically reconfigure the BR via the master device, in particular:
- Device number in the network;
- Data exchange speed;
- Number of data bits;
- Type of parity;
- Number of stop bits;
- Initial state of discrete outputs;
- Light indication of operating modes;
- Simple mounting on a DIN rail.

What is the discrete output expansion unit BR2/BR3 used for?
The discrete output expansion unit BR2/BR3 is designed for connecting signaling circuits, switching signals, turning power circuits on and off, managing alert systems, activating emergency alarm systems, and other similar tasks.
What communication protocol does the BR2/BR3 use and is a control device required?
The device operates using the ModBus RTU protocol in an RS-485 network and is a slave device, meaning for normal operation it must be connected to a master device such as a personal computer or a microprocessor control system.
What are the main electrical characteristics of the BR2/BR3 unit?
The unit is powered by AC voltage in the range of 100-240 V, consumes no more than 5 W of power, has two output devices, and connects via an RS-485 interface with galvanic isolation of 1000 V.
Can the BR2/BR3 unit parameters be configured via software?
Yes, the user can programmatically reconfigure the unit’s parameters via the master device. It is possible to change the device number in the network, data exchange speed, number of data bits, parity type, number of stop bits, initial state of discrete outputs, and operating mode indicators.
What are the mounting features of the BR2/BR3 unit?
The BR2/BR3 units feature simple mounting on a DIN rail, which facilitates installation in panels and automation systems.
