Temperature sensors of group 107, group 1, are designed for measuring the temperature of the ambient environment, liquid, gaseous, and granular chemically non-aggressive media, as well as the surface of solid bodies in various industries.
Temperature is the most common measured parameter, and overheating is one of the most negative factors in equipment operation, which is why there are a huge number of ways and places to apply temperature sensors.
The principle of operation of resistance temperature detectors is based on the change in electrical resistance of conductors and semiconductors depending on temperature. The material from which such a sensor is made must have a high temperature coefficient of resistance, the possibility of linear dependence of resistance on temperature, good reproducibility of properties, and inertness to environmental influences. Platinum meets all these requirements the most; copper is slightly less.
Thermocouples are exclusively differential temperature sensors. They generate an electrical signal proportional to the temperature difference between two different points. Therefore, the connection point (junction), which we use to measure the required temperature, is called the "hot" junction, while the other connection point (which we cannot avoid) is called the "cold" junction.
