Description

Purpose

Power controllers are designed for:

  • power control in a 3-phase network with active loads, with triac power blocks connected jointly to the device;
  • use as power setters of a heater with manual control, as well as for automatic temperature maintenance of the object in conjunction with thermostats (for example, RD1, RP1, etc.).

General functions and operating modes

The power controller operates in automatic mode. When a 0...10 V voltage is applied to the control input, the device proportionally regulates the output power of the active load within 0...100%.

The device provides smooth ramp-up to the set power. This is necessary to prevent sharp overloads of the power supply network. When the device is turned on or with a step change in the control input signal, the power to the load increases NOT abruptly, but smoothly. The ramp-up time to the set power is adjustable within 0.1 to 60 seconds, set by a knob on the front panel of the device.

The "lock" input signal forbids the start of control pulses. When it is released, the device smoothly ramps up to the set power level. As a source of the "lock" signal, an n-p-n transistor with an open collector output, or contacts of a button, toggle switch, reed switch, relay can be used.

The operating mode is displayed on the device's front panel and is changed programmatically. Initial calibration of analog inputs with saving factory settings is performed at the factory.
To control the power of the load, the device allows forming triac control signals by two methods: phase control or by the number of half-periods.

The phase method is used for controlling low-inertia objects that respond to voltage changes on the load, as well as for lighting control. With the phase method, the device changes the triac's conduction angle depending on the control input signal, thereby changing the power level on the load.

The method of control by the number of half-periods is used only for inertial loads. The number of half-periods on the load depends on the control input signal level: at minimum power (0%) no half-waves of voltage are applied; at maximum power (100%), 100 half-waves; at 50% power — 50 half-waves of supply voltage are applied.
