Description

Humidity and temperature sensors (psychrometer) DVT-013 are specialized devices designed to measure air temperature and humidity.

The basis of psychrometric humidity measurement is the principle of determining relative humidity using two thermometers: a "dry" and a "wet" one. The "dry" is a regular thermometer measuring air temperature; the "wet" is a temperature sensor (thermometer) surrounded by a moist cloth. The evaporation intensity from the wet thermometer surface depends on the air humidity. The drier the air, the more intense the moisture evaporation. During evaporation, energy is taken from the thermometer, causing its temperature to drop. By using the dry thermometer temperature and the temperature difference between the dry and wet thermometers, the relative air humidity can be determined.

However, the temperature difference depends not only on the relative humidity but also on the air flow speed.

The basis of the capacitive method for measuring relative air humidity is the change in the dielectric constant of a material due to moisture penetration from the surrounding air. The material is placed between two electrodes acting as capacitor plates, whose capacitance changes depending on the ambient humidity.

Humidity and temperature sensors (psychrometer) DVT-013 consist of two temperature sensors that are completely independent from each other. Humidity calculation is performed according to the psychrometric table.

The psychrometric method of humidity measurement is based on using measured values from two temperature sensors (one wet and one dry) to calculate humidity according to the psychrometric table.

Psychrometric sensors are recommended to be installed indoors, where the air flow speed is about 2 m/s. The supply set does not include a tray for the wet sensor or a wick.

FAQ

Questions and answers

How does humidity measurement work in DVT-013 sensors?
Humidity and temperature sensors (psychrometer) DVT-013 measure air temperature and relative humidity using two thermometers: dry and wet. The wet thermometer is surrounded by a wet cloth, allowing humidity determination based on the temperature difference between them.
What is the psychrometric method of measuring humidity?
The psychrometric method is based on measuring the temperatures of dry and wet thermometers, after which relative air humidity is calculated using a psychrometric table. This is based on the principle of moisture evaporation from the wet sensor and the cooling of its temperature depending on humidity.
What are the recommended installation conditions for DVT-013 sensors?
It is recommended to install DVT-013 sensors in rooms with an air flow velocity of about 2 m/s for correct measurement. This parameter should be considered because air velocity affects the temperature difference between the thermometers.
Are the tray for the wet sensor and wick included in the DVT-013 sensor kit?
The delivery set does not include a tray for the wet sensor and a wick; therefore, they need to be purchased separately or prepared independently for the correct operation of the wet thermometer.
